48,482 Listings Opened, 4,531 Closed: The Week Across the Boards We Track | Career App Daily

In the employer job boards we track, 48,482 listings opened in the last seven days and 4,531 closed. That's roughly 10.7 new postings for every one that was canceled or filled, leaving\ 54,742 listings open from 686 employers we track that are currently hiring.

The openings figure is awesome (considering we're in beta...): 48,482 of the 54,742 ] open listings, about 89%, were posted in the last week.

Excel Edges Out Python

The single most-required skill on new job listings this week was Microsoft Excel, on 2,199 of them, just ahead of Python at 1,950. Interesting caveat: we don't see many mentions of Google Sheets, indicating Excel is universally an avatar for both.

Group the Microsoft office tools together (Excel, Microsoft Office at 1,034, Microsoft Word at 983, Microsoft PowerPoint at 670, Microsoft Outlook at 590) and they account for 5,476 skill mentions.

The engineering side of the list is both more specific *and* has much less distance between items: SQL 902, Amazon Web Services (AWS) 838, Kubernetes 645, C++ 549. Data Analysis named 617 and SAP 593. OUr read on this is that, while many types of roles need Excel skills, it's more-universally required for an engineer to be multi-faceted with some of these common items. Engineering Managers Win in Median Pay

Below are employer-posted salary ranges annualized to USD (hourly figures at 2,080 hours):

Engineering Manager carries the highest posted median at $270,000, from 300 listings. Software Engineer is the largest priced pool by a wide margin, with 1,520 listings having a median salary of $235,400 and Product Manager essentially level at $235,000 on 478 listings.

Below that? Account Executive $197,000 (151 listings), Systems Engineer $188,000 (157), Marketing Manager $180,000 (162), Sales Manager $175,000 (186), Program Manager $212,750 (161). Registered Nurse posts a median of $108,160 across 413 listings, and Sales Representative is lowest here at $81,598 on 237. Our assumption here is that these sales roles have much of their money sitting in commissions that a posted base range won't capture.

Several of these pools are under 200 listings. Treat the medians as a rough estimate and not as something super precise.

Remote Work Remains an Outlier

Just 3% of new listings this week were flagged as remote jobs. Whatever the conversation elsewhere, the boards we crawl are still overwhelmingly tie work to specific cities or offices.
