How these are counted
- Open roles are counted every morning after the crawl, the same count as the open roles figure above, and that count begins September 16, 2026. We do not rebuild it for earlier days: a role that closed and came back, or a copy folded into another, leaves no record of where it stood on a past day.
- New and closed roles come from the day we first saw each role and the day its last listing left the board, back to August 14, 2026.
- Week-over-week comparisons count only boards we were tracking at least three weeks before the window, so adding an employer never reads as a hiring surge.
- Pay figures are employer-posted ranges only, never member-reported, and the share of roles that state pay varies by state law.
- Copies of one role on one board, the same title posted in many places, count once; roles outside the United States are excluded.
