Overtone Zither

The overtone zither (also called an overtone harp or scheitholt-derived instrument) is a fretless stringed folk instrument on which players sound a fundamental drone string while lightly touching other strings at harmonic node points to produce overtones as melody. It's used in folk and meditative music traditions, prized for its ethereal, bell-like sound. Players often pluck or strum with fingers or picks while damping strings at specific points to isolate desired harmonics.
