Wheelchair Fencing
Wheelchair fencing is a Paralympic combat sport in which fencers, seated in wheelchairs that are locked to the floor at a fixed distance apart, compete using foil, épée, or sabre to score touches on each other. Because the chairs are fixed, matches rely heavily on upper-body speed, reach, and blade technique rather than footwork. It has been part of the Paralympic Games since the first Games in 1960 and is governed internationally by the International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation and World Para Fencing.
