Tuba

The tuba is the largest and lowest-pitched instrument in the brass family, providing the bass foundation in orchestras, concert bands, brass bands, and marching bands. Played by buzzing the lips into a large mouthpiece and using valves to change pitch, it requires substantial breath support and is often associated with oom-pah rhythms in polka and brass band music as well as serious classical repertoire. Players enjoy its rich, deep tone and its essential harmonic role anchoring an ensemble.
