A♭ Clarinet

The A-flat clarinet is a rare, very high-pitched member of the clarinet family, sounding a minor ninth above the written pitch, smaller even than the E-flat clarinet. It is used sparingly, primarily in large European wind and military bands for extra brilliance in the upper register, and is uncommon in modern orchestral or solo repertoire.
