Shehnai

The shehnai is a double-reed wind instrument from the Indian subcontinent, related to the oboe, with a conical wooden body that produces a bright, penetrating tone. It is traditionally played at weddings, temple ceremonies, and other auspicious occasions in North India, and was elevated to a classical concert instrument in the 20th century largely through the virtuosity of Ustad Bismillah Khan.
