Pennywhistle

The pennywhistle, also called the tin whistle or Irish whistle, is a simple six-holed woodwind instrument with a fipple mouthpiece, similar in fingering to a recorder. It is inexpensive and relatively easy to learn, which has made it a staple beginner and folk instrument, especially in Irish and Celtic traditional music. Skilled players use ornamentation like rolls and cuts to produce the lively, piercing melodies characteristic of jigs and reels.
