Six-Stringed Banjo

A six-stringed banjo, often called a banjitar or guitjo, pairs a banjo's resonator body and drum-like skin head with six strings tuned like a standard guitar. This allows guitar players to produce the banjo's bright, percussive twang while using chords and fingerings they already know. It is common in folk, blues, and popular music settings where a banjo timbre is desired without learning traditional five-string banjo technique.
