Banjo Cello

The banjo cello is a rare, large-bodied banjo built with a longer scale and thicker strings, tuned in the same range as a cello (typically C-G-D-A), allowing it to provide a deep, resonant low end within a banjo ensemble or orchestra. It is much less common than standard four- or five-string banjos and is mainly used by specialty banjo orchestras, banjo ensembles, or collectors interested in early 20th-century banjo family instruments. Its size and tuning make it a niche instrument built to fill a bass or tenor role in group banjo playing.
