Veena

The veena is a plucked stringed instrument central to Indian classical music, particularly the Carnatic tradition of South India, typically featuring a long fretted neck, a large resonating gourd body, and multiple strings. Played by plucking with the fingers while the other hand presses the frets to produce melodic ornamentation (gamakas), it has various regional forms such as the Saraswati veena and rudra veena. It is often associated with the goddess Saraswati and holds deep cultural and spiritual significance.
