Tegumi

Tegumi is a traditional Okinawan folk wrestling style and a foundational grappling art that influenced the development of Okinawan karate, incorporating throws, joint locks, and close-quarters techniques. It was historically practiced alongside striking arts to give karateka a well-rounded grappling foundation. Tegumi is less widely practiced today but is studied by karate historians and practitioners interested in the art's grappling roots.
