Canarian Wrestling

Canarian wrestling, or Lucha Canaria, is a traditional wrestling sport from Spain's Canary Islands in which two competitors, standing within a sand circle, try to force each other to touch the ground with any part of the body other than the soles of the feet. Matches are contested between teams called "bandos," with wrestlers using holds and leg techniques called "mañas" rather than strikes or chokes. It is considered a significant part of Canarian cultural heritage and is actively promoted through island leagues and school programs.
