Bando

Bando is a traditional Welsh team game played with curved sticks and a ball, considered a historical ancestor of modern field hockey and related stick-and-ball sports. It was especially popular in Wales, particularly Glamorgan, from the medieval period through the 19th century, often played on beaches or open fields between rival villages or regions. The game largely died out with industrialization and the rise of codified sports like hockey and rugby, though it retains interest as a piece of Welsh folk sporting heritage.
