Sarod

The sarod is a fretless, plucked string instrument central to Hindustani classical music, featuring a skin-covered resonator, a metal fingerboard, and sympathetic strings, played with a plectrum. Its fretless design lets performers execute the deep glides and slides (meend) characteristic of Indian classical melody, and it was popularized internationally by musicians such as Ali Akbar Khan and Amjad Ali Khan.
