Twelve-String Guitar

The twelve-string guitar pairs each of the six standard strings with a second string, usually tuned in unison or an octave apart, creating a rich, shimmering, chorus-like tone. It is favored by folk, rock, and country musicians (Lead Belly and The Byrds are classic examples) for strummed accompaniment and its distinctively full, resonant sound.
