Mandocello

The mandocello is a larger, lower-pitched member of the mandolin family, typically tuned an octave below the mandola (C-G-D-A), giving it a range similar to a cello. It has four courses of doubled strings played with a pick and is used in mandolin orchestras, folk, bluegrass, and some rock music to provide rich mid-to-low register accompaniment. Its larger body produces a deeper, more resonant tone than the mandolin or mandola.
