Cigar Box Guitar

A cigar box guitar is a simple, often homemade stringed instrument traditionally built using an empty cigar box as the resonating body, paired with a wooden neck and anywhere from one to four strings (commonly three). Its low-cost, do-it-yourself construction made it popular among poor rural musicians, particularly African American blues players in the early 20th-century American South, who could build one from scrap materials. Today it enjoys a revival among folk, blues, and DIY music enthusiasts who value its raw, resonant sound and hands-on building process.
