Diaulos
The diaulos was an ancient Greek wind instrument consisting of two separate pipes, each typically fitted with a reed, played simultaneously by a single musician to produce harmonizing or droning tones. It was used in ancient Greek music for religious ceremonies, theater, symposia, and athletic events, and is depicted frequently in Greek pottery and sculpture. Modern historical performers and instrument makers reconstruct it to study and recreate ancient Greek musical practice.
