Transverse Ocarina

The transverse ocarina is a style of ocarina, a small enclosed wind instrument, held horizontally to the player's mouth (as opposed to the more common pendant or 'sweet potato' style held vertically). It produces sound as air is blown across a fipple and resonates within the chamber, with finger holes altering pitch. It's played by folk and world music enthusiasts and hobbyist musicians drawn to its simple, ancient, whistle-like tone.
