Indian Banjo

The "Indian banjo," more formally known as the bulbul tarang, is a stringed folk instrument from South Asia resembling a small box zither fitted with a row of typewriter-like buttons that fret the strings while the player strums or plucks with a pick. It is popular in Punjabi, Bengali, and other regional folk and devotional music traditions, valued for its simple playing technique and distinctive sliding, sitar-like tone.
