Alto Clarinet

The alto clarinet is a member of the clarinet family pitched between the standard soprano clarinet and the bass clarinet, usually in the key of E-flat. It has a curved metal neck and bell and a mellow, warm tone, and is used mainly in clarinet choirs, concert bands, and occasionally chamber ensembles rather than as a common solo instrument. It is less widely used than the soprano or bass clarinet, making skilled players relatively scarce.
