Tenoroon

The tenoroon is a smaller relative of the bassoon, pitched higher in the tenor range, historically used mainly by young or smaller-handed players such as children learning the double-reed family. It largely fell out of common use as the standard bassoon and contrabassoon became the dominant instruments, though it survives as a curiosity among early music and reed instrument collectors.
