Electric Violin
The electric violin is a violin equipped with a pickup system that converts string vibrations into an electrical signal for amplification, often built with a solid (non-resonating) body that produces little acoustic sound on its own. It is used in rock, pop, jazz fusion, and experimental music, allowing players to use effects pedals like distortion, reverb, and looping that would be impossible with a traditional acoustic violin. Its solid-body design also makes it quieter for silent practice with headphones.
