Soprano Trombone

The soprano trombone is a small, high-pitched trombone typically pitched in B-flat, an octave above the tenor trombone, essentially matching the range of a trumpet with a trombone's slide mechanism. It is a rare instrument used mainly in novelty performances, early brass band music, or by trombonists exploring extended technique, since the slide positions are extremely close together and hard to play accurately in tune. It never became standard in orchestras or bands, remaining a niche instrument for specialists and collectors.
