Soprano Saxophone

The soprano saxophone is a straight (or occasionally curved) high-pitched member of the saxophone family, pitched in B-flat, sitting above the alto saxophone in range. It produces a bright, penetrating sound and is prominently associated with jazz musicians like Sidney Bechet and John Coltrane, as well as use in classical and pop music. Its smaller size and different acoustics compared to the more common alto or tenor sax make it notoriously difficult to keep in tune, so it's usually played by saxophonists doubling from another size.
