Soprano Trumpet

The soprano trumpet is a term sometimes used for a trumpet pitched in the standard soprano range (like the common B-flat trumpet) to distinguish it from lower-pitched trumpets like the bass trumpet, or for high descant trumpets used in Baroque and orchestral repertoire. Such instruments are prized for their bright, singing upper register, useful for florid melodic lines and high obbligato parts. Trumpeters use them in classical, orchestral, and specialized early-music performance contexts.
