Koto

The koto is a traditional Japanese stringed instrument, typically about six feet long with 13 (or sometimes more) silk or synthetic strings stretched over movable bridges, played by plucking with picks worn on the right hand while the left hand adjusts pitch and adds ornamentation. It is considered Japan's national instrument and is central to traditional court, folk, and contemporary Japanese music.
