Erhu

The erhu is a two-stringed bowed instrument from China, sometimes called the 'Chinese violin,' with a small resonator body covered in python skin and a bow whose hair passes between the two strings. It produces an expressive, voice-like tone and is a mainstay of Chinese orchestras, opera accompaniment, and folk music. Players are drawn to its emotive slides and vibrato, which can mimic sighing or singing.
