Bass Trumpet

The bass trumpet is a low-pitched brass instrument pitched in the same range as a tenor trombone, built with trumpet-style valves rather than a slide, giving it a trumpet-like tone with a much lower range. It was notably used by Wagner in his "Ring" cycle and appears occasionally in orchestral and brass ensemble music requiring a bright, agile low-brass voice.
