Bass Saxophone

The bass saxophone is one of the largest and lowest-pitched members of the saxophone family, sounding an octave below the baritone sax, with a large curved or looped body and substantial air requirements to play. It is rarely used today but historically appeared in early jazz and dance bands of the 1920s, and occasionally in contemporary avant-garde or novelty ensembles for its deep, foghorn-like tone.
