Whamola

The whamola is a homemade one-stringed musical instrument, essentially a stand-up bass-like device with a single string stretched over a broomstick-style neck attached to a resonating body, often played by plucking or slapping while bending the neck to change pitch. It was popularized by musician-comedian Larry "Wild Man" Fischer and later by novelty and folk musicians. It produces a deep, twangy tone and is associated with lo-fi, DIY musical traditions.
