Tenor Violin

The tenor violin is a rare, viola-sized (or larger) bowed string instrument tuned roughly an octave below the standard violin, filling the tenor range between viola and cello. Historically built to complete Renaissance and Baroque string consorts, it has seen occasional revival by luthiers and folk musicians seeking its distinctive middle-voice timbre.
