Subcontra Bass

Subcontra bass refers to a musical pitch register or instrument class positioned an octave or more below the standard contrabass range, producing extremely low, deep tones. Instruments built to this register, such as certain organ pipes or specialty brass and woodwind instruments, are used to add profound low-end depth to ensembles. They are relatively uncommon due to the size and cost required to produce such low pitches reliably.
