Contrabass Saxophone

The contrabass saxophone is the largest and lowest-pitched saxophone in regular (if rare) use, standing roughly six feet tall with tubing folded several times, producing a deep, foghorn-like tone. It is used occasionally in saxophone choirs, big bands, and novelty or experimental music, valued for the rumbling low-end power it adds. Due to its size, weight, and expense, it is played by relatively few dedicated low-saxophone specialists.
