Schtick

A schtick is a comedic performer's signature routine, gag, or characteristic gimmick that becomes closely associated with them. The term, derived from Yiddish, was popularized in vaudeville and stand-up comedy circles to describe a recurring bit or persona a performer repeats for laughs. People also use it more broadly for any habitual, attention-getting mannerism or style someone is known for.
