Broadway refers to the collection of 41 large professional theaters located in the Theater District of Manhattan, New York City, and by extension to the American commercial theater industry centered there, encompassing musicals and plays. Attending a Broadway show is a major cultural and tourist activity, drawing audiences for big-budget musicals, star-driven revivals, and new works vying for Tony Awards.
