Para-Gymnastics

Para-gymnastics generally refers to adapted gymnastics disciplines for athletes with physical, visual, or intellectual impairments, most notably practiced competitively as rhythmic gymnastics (using ribbons, balls, hoops, and other apparatus) for athletes with intellectual impairments under Virtus/Special Olympics-style competition, since gymnastics is not yet a full Paralympic Games sport. Routines are adapted to accommodate different ability levels while retaining the core skills, flexibility, and artistry of mainstream gymnastics. It draws participants for the combination of grace, coordination, and expressive performance the sport offers.
