Octave Mandolin

The octave mandolin is a larger relative of the standard mandolin, tuned one octave lower (typically G-D-A-E), giving it a warmer, richer sound. It is favored in Irish, Scottish, and other folk traditions for both melody and accompaniment, often played with a flatpick or fingerstyle.
