Malla-Yuddha

Malla-yuddha is an ancient form of Indian combat wrestling described in classical texts, combining grappling, strikes, joint locks, and pressure-point techniques with few restrictions compared to modern wrestling. Historically practiced by wrestlers (mallas) in royal courts and akharas (training halls), it is considered a precursor to modern Indian wrestling styles like kushti. It emphasizes physical conditioning, strength, and technique developed through rigorous traditional training regimens.
