Kenpō
Kenpō (also spelled kempo) refers to a family of martial arts with roots in Chinese and Okinawan fighting traditions, characterized by fast, fluid striking combinations, blocks, joint locks, and takedowns. The best-known modern branch, American Kenpo, was developed and popularized in the United States by Ed Parker in the mid-20th century, emphasizing practical self-defense sequences. It is practiced today both for self-defense training and as a structured belt-ranked martial art in dojos worldwide.
