Guitarrón (Uruguayo)

The guitarrón uruguayo is a large bass guitar variant used in Uruguayan folk music traditions, similar in role to its Argentine and Chilean counterparts, providing low-register accompaniment to folk song and payada performances. It reflects the shared Río de la Plata folk music heritage of Uruguay and Argentina.
