Basset Horn

The basset horn is a member of the clarinet family pitched in F, between the standard clarinet and the bass clarinet, characterized by its extended lower range and often curved or angled body. It was a favorite of Mozart, who used it in several of his works including the Requiem, and it remains a specialist instrument played mainly in classical and historically informed performance settings.
