French Horn

The French horn is a brass instrument consisting of tubing coiled into a circular shape with a flared bell, played by buzzing the lips into a deep funnel-shaped mouthpiece and using valves and hand position inside the bell to change pitch and tone color. It has a wide range and is prized for its warm, mellow, blending timbre, making it a staple of orchestras, wind ensembles, and brass quintets. Learning it is considered challenging due to the instrument's long, narrow tubing, which makes pitch control and note accuracy demanding.
