Alphorn

The alphorn is a long, straight wooden wind instrument, often several meters in length, traditionally used by herdsmen in the Swiss and other Alpine regions to communicate across valleys and call cattle. It produces sound through lip vibration into a simple conical wooden tube ending in a wide bell, similar to a natural horn with no valves. Today it is mainly played in folk music, festivals, and competitions celebrating Alpine heritage.
