Extended-Range Guitars

Extended-range guitars are electric (or occasionally acoustic) guitars built with more than the standard six strings, commonly seven, eight, or nine strings, to extend the instrument's lower range. They are popular among metal, progressive rock, and djent guitarists who want to play heavier, lower riffs without retuning a standard guitar. Enthusiasts value the added tonal palette and the technical challenge of adapting playing technique to the wider string spacing and range.
