Texas Postings Jump to 205 New Roles This Week, Up From 83 | Career App Daily
Texas went from 83 new postings to 205 in a week across the employer job boards we track. That is 122 more roles and a 147% increase, and it puts Texas third among states for new postings this week, behind California at 478 and New York at 240.
The national week was also up sharply. On a like-for-like basis — counting only boards we were already tracking before the comparison started, so newly added boards can't read as a hiring boom — new postings went from 1,883 to 3,999, a 112% increase. Texas grew faster than that, which nudged its share of all new postings from 4.4% to 5.1%. It is a real move, but a modest one in absolute terms: 122 extra roles in a week is a small number against 57,025 open listings site-wide.
Where Texas sits in the state pack
Texas is one of only 12 states with openings on the boards we track right now, so the state leaderboard is short and each state's weekly number is sensitive to a single large employer refreshing its board.
New York is the only state in the top group that shrank week over week — 240 new postings against 264. Everything else in the top twelve rose, and several rose off almost nothing: Minnesota went from 1 to 61, Arkansas from 1 to 58, Georgia from 17 to 97. Against those, Texas's jump is less dramatic in percentage terms than it looks in isolation — it started from a real base of 83 rather than from a standing start.
What we can and can't attribute
One honest limit: our employer and occupation leaderboards this week are site-wide, not broken out by state, so we can't say which companies put those 205 Texas roles up. What we can say is which employers drove the national week they sit inside.
Target led with 327 new postings against 600 open, Cleveland Clinic added 294 of its 911 open roles, and Marriott International added 231 — nearly its entire open book of 243. Tyson Foods added 220 of 595 open. Retail, hospital systems, hotels and food processing all have Texas footprints, but the packet doesn't let us trace any specific posting to the state, so treat that as context rather than attribution.
On the technology side, NVIDIA added 176 new roles against 832 open, Accenture 169, Medtronic 151 and SAP 115. Merck added 171 and Albertsons 123.
We also have no occupation mix for the week — that list came back empty — so the composition of the Texas jump is unknown. The one occupational signal available is posted pay, and it is national rather than Texas-specific: employer-posted ranges annualized to USD put Software Engineer at a median of $240,000 across 1,276 listings, Machine Learning Engineer at $280,000 across 115, and Sales Representative at $81,238 across 179. Those are what employers printed, not what anyone reports earning.
The wider week
The full crawl logged 10,403 new postings and 20,259 closed in the last seven days, with 691 employers hiring. Closures running at roughly double new postings is worth watching before anyone reads the Texas number as a boom. Remote roles were 5% of new postings.
