Twist

The Twist is a solo dance craze of the early 1960s, popularized by Chubby Checker's hit song 'The Twist,' involving a rhythmic swiveling of the hips and feet while keeping the upper body relatively still. Because it required no partner contact or set choreography, it was easy to learn and helped usher in an era of more free-form, individual social dancing.
