Turtle Racing

Turtle racing is a novelty pastime in which turtles or tortoises are released at a starting line and race toward a finish line or toward the center of a circle, with spectators betting or cheering on their favorites. It's a lighthearted attraction found at fairs, pubs, and community festivals, valued for its comic unpredictability rather than athletic skill. In some regions, however, it has drawn criticism from animal welfare advocates concerned about stress to the animals.
