Snail Racing

A novelty competitive event in which garden snails are placed at the center of a circular track and 'race' outward to the edge, with the first to cross the finish line declared the winner. It is best known in the UK, where events like the World Snail Racing Championships in Congham, Norfolk, have been held since the 1960s, drawing entrants who name and 'train' their snails for fun rather than serious athletic pursuit.
